TPG internet services - lying S.O.B's

The title sez it all.
We had an account with TPG [ADSL] for many a moon but decided to go cable since they
refused to give us ADSL2 service from our exchange [ what that means is that although every suburb around us had it, and ours didn't, they were too tight fisted to enable it for ???? customers. You have to fit a 100 line rack at the exchange to make it work for only one customer and that means expense. ]. So we rang up, canceled the account, sent an e-mail verifying same and thought that was that. But because we had our fee's deducted from a CREDIT account on authority to TPG, they continued to deduct 3 months worth of fee's from the account. Short of canceling our credit card account [ and getting a new one ] we were told BY THE BANK, there wasn't a bloody thing we could do about it - TPG had us by the balls and it was THEIR responsibility NOT to deduct any money once the account was deemed closed - they still held the authority. Another phone call and e-mail threatening legal action would not see them return the money [ though they did cease deducting money from the account ].

Bottom line, 2 things really.

NEVER, EVER go with TPG internet services. Apart from this little number, they proxied our URL with 2 other users, slowing our line speed to a crawl.

NEVER, EVER give any business an authority to deduct periodic payment from a CREDIT ACCOUNT, instead, have it deducted from a savings or normal account - those accounts you can put stops on but you CAN NOT stop a periodic payment from a CREDIT ACCOUNT unless you cancel the whole account [ saying it's been compromised by someone ] and get issued a new credit account number.

Further to this saga - So the son's of bitches refused to return 3 months worth of fees???
I decided to let my fingers do the walking and ' the pen is mightier than the sword'.
I made up 2 huge signs which read 'TPG Internet - thieves and crooks - never again'
and put them on the back window of my car. The word must have spread because 3 weeks to the day, the money they owed me magically appeared in my credit card account. I did the right thing and removed the signs :) . Food for thought is it not ?
